A Sombre Reminder

Today was an interesting day. For us personally, it was busy getting more of our camp set up and just relaxing. We got solar connected to our camp mates trailer to charge the batteries so power would no longer be an issue. I brought my original Xantrex charge controller and one of my 80W Sharp solar panels to charge the two brand new 6V batteries we installed just before we left home.
It got in a bit late in the afternoon, so tomorrow will be a whole solar day of recharging the batteries. They weren't down too far (12.6V) so should be able to get them back up with moderate usage tomorrow. This is just a temporary setup. The better setup would have been to have both 85W panels installed, but carrying space and weight were an issue.
While we were getting started though, I happened to notice some smoke. It turned out to be a fellow campers rig was on fire. It started out small enough and at first, I could see some movement over there as people were tossing things out and running around.
But it soon turned into a raging inferno. Walls and windows blew out, the propane tank and tires exploded, then sounds of ammunition popping.  As you can see below, just the centre skeleton remains and the front and rear are fully engulfed before the fire truck comes.

By the time the fire crews were done putting the fire out, the entire trailer was destroyed. We didn't go near it today, but next time we're out passing by, I'll see if I can get a picture of what remains.
Anyways, a somber reminder of the dangers of living in trailers where everything is flammable and explosive tanks are under your living room. A fellow RVer lost his home and some possessions today, but based on how much activity there was, hopefully no one was hurt.
Campfire chat indicates it was a borrowed trailer after he lost his own not too long ago. Either way, not good.

We finished off our solar install and got a late afternoon snack, I took a shower now that the heat of the day was over and got ready for dinner: garden salad and pork chops with peach and glaze.

 It sure was good.
We rejoined the campfire tonight after missing the last couple of evenings due to sickness and shopping trips.
